The Cleveland Browns defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-19 in a Week 2 matchup. The victory followed a period of tension involving Browns head coach Todd Monken and NBC analyst Mike Tomlin.

Monken utilized comments made by Tomlin regarding the Browns’ previous loss to the Jaguars as motivation. Tomlin had referenced a 2021 quote from former Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, stating, ‘The Browns is the Browns’. Monken responded to the remarks by stating, ‘Browns are gonna Browns. (Expletive) that! The guys took that to heart.’ Tomlin noted he was happy to provide ‘bulletin board material’ to motivate the team.

In terms of roster management, Deshaun Watson started for the Browns with Shedeur Sanders as the primary backup and Taylen Green as the emergency third quarterback. The team also navigated injuries to cornerback Tyson Campbell and offensive guard Teven Jenkins.
