The National Confederation of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) reported a loss of access to its official account on the social media platform X. On September 25, 2026, the organization noted difficulties accessing the @cnbbnacional profile and stated it had submitted documentation to X support to recover ownership.

By September 27, the situation appeared to escalate, with the CNBB reporting that the profile’s institutional image had disappeared and the associated email address seemed to have been changed. While the cause remains unconfirmed, the incident follows recent public statements by Catholic leaders regarding the 2026 elections, national sovereignty, and the protection of the Amazon through ‘Integral Ecology.’ The CNBB has directed the public to its website and other social media channels for verified information.
