In early July 2026 the state government of Coahuila reported that its youth drug‑prevention initiative, overseen by the governor’s office, had reached about 20,000 participants.

By the beginning of August the program was being expanded under the “Vive Libre Sin Drogas” banner. The initiative, run by DIF Coahuila and the Secretaría de Cultura, moved from a municipal phase that involved roughly 800 young people across the state’s 38 municipalities to a regional talent contest. About 100 contestants were selected to compete in children’s and youth singing and dance categories, with officials emphasizing the role of art, sport and cultural activities in building drug‑free futures and fostering responsible citizenship.
