Law enforcement authorities in Brazil and the United States have conducted separate operations to dismantle underground cockfighting rings.

In Mossoró, Rio Grande do Norte, police dismantled a ring in the Puxa Boi community after receiving a tip. Officers discovered a structure for animal fights and evidence of gambling, seizing 77 roosters. Over 50 individuals were taken to the police station to provide statements. Due to a lack of public facilities, the animals were left under the care of the property owner and a veterinarian.

In Miami-Dade, officials uncovered an operation in the Redland agricultural area. Investigators found hundreds of roosters with injuries consistent with fighting, alongside a permanent arena equipped with spectator seating and a scoreboard. Authorities seized various medical supplies and stimulants used to prepare the birds. Two men, Jesús Fabian Oliva and Ángel Ponce-Maqueda, were arrested on charges including organizing animal fights and animal cruelty.
