The Evangelical Church Association of Cologne and Region has launched its 2026/2027 Diakonie donation appeal to support the Evangelical Counseling Center Cologne and Region. The initiative aims to expand counseling services for children and adolescents, increase staff hours, and improve equipment in therapy rooms through specialized materials. To encourage contributions, the church has pledged to match every donated cent up to a total of 100,000 euros. The funds are intended to address various challenges, including family conflicts, grief, and custody issues. City Superintendent Bernhard Seiger noted that early, low-threshold support is necessary to prevent crises from escalating into more expensive interventions, such as inpatient care. He also highlighted concerns regarding the tight budgetary situation in Cologne, which has led to a freezing of funding for family counseling provided by independent organizations. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-17: Protestant Church Districts in Cologne launch donation appeal The Protestant Church Districts in Cologne are seeking donations for 2026/2027 to expand counseling and therapy services for children and families facing various life crises. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/protestant-church-districts-in-cologne-launch-donation-appeal ### 2026-09-30: Evangelical Church in Cologne launches donation drive for counseling center The Evangelical Church Association of Cologne and Region is launching a donation drive to fund the Evangelical Counseling Center, matching donations up to 100,000 euros to support youth and family services. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/evangelical-church-in-cologne-launches-donation-drive-for-counseling-center --- Cite as: Cologne Evangelical Church counseling donation drive.
