Initial efforts focused on modernizing Colombian agriculture through the transfer of Israeli technology. This partnership aims to implement advanced irrigation and water management systems in the La Guajira department to improve production in semi-desert environments. Following these agricultural initiatives, the Colombian government under President Abelardo de la Espriella has signaled a broader foreign policy shift toward Israel. This realignment includes recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights and reopening the Colombian embassy in East Jerusalem.
