Municipalities in Colombia have initiated programs to honor veterans of the military and police forces. In Dosquebradas, Risaralda, the local government institutionalized an annual ‘Veteran Week’ through Municipal Agreement 010 of 2026. This initiative includes the creation of the ‘Order of Merit for the Public Force Veteran, Honor, Service, and Gratitude’ and features activities such as historical memory projects and community service, including the recovery of La Moneda Park.

Similar commemorations occurred in Popayán, where the local administration held ceremonies involving the National Army and Metropolitan Police. These events included religious services and floral offerings at the La Cabaña vacation center, a facility provided to the Association of Members of the Retired Public Force (AMIFUR) for the use of veterans and their families.
