In late October, the organization commemorated 73 years of female service, noting that 44,237 women currently serve in the institution. This commemoration included tributes to officers who died or were kidnapped in the line of duty, with specific recognition given to specialized units like the Transnational Crimes Investigation Unit for their work in digital forensics and combating child exploitation. In early November, the institution celebrated its 135th anniversary. Director General Major General Jesús Alejandro Barrera Peña noted that the police force was officially declared the heritage of Colombians through Law 2600 in July 2026. Moving forward, the leadership outlined strategic pillars focused on personnel training, modernization through sustainable administration, and the transformation of public service via intelligence and technology to combat organized crime. ## Timeline ### 2026-11-04: Colombia National Police celebrates 135 years The Colombian National Police marks 135 years of service, focusing on modernization, personnel welfare, and intelligence-led crime prevention following its designation as national heritage. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/colombia-national-police-celebrates-135-years ### 2026-10-26: Colombian Police commemorate 73 years of female service Colombia's National Police marks 73 years of female service, highlighting 44,237 women officers and specialized digital investigations into child exploitation on the dark web. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/colombian-police-commemorate-73-years-of-female-service --- Cite as: Colombian National Police institutional milestones.
