Chicago White Sox shortstop Colson Montgomery set a new Major League Baseball single-season record for strikeouts. During a game against the Colorado Rockies, Montgomery recorded his 224th strikeout, surpassing the previous record of 223 set by Mark Reynolds in 2009.

While the milestone occurred during the White Sox’s push for a postseason berth, Montgomery expressed a desire to focus on positive performance rather than the record. He remarked, “It’s definitely something you don’t want your name to be a part of,” noting that dwelling on the negative would be selfish given the team’s position.
