In late September 2026, various human rights, social, and political organizations in Quilmes Oeste organized a tribute to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the execution of José Martín Amigo. Amigo, a 23-year-old Peronist Youth and Montoneros militant, was killed by the military dictatorship on September 24, 1976.

The initial commemoration included a walk from a local plaza to Amigo’s childhood home, featuring speeches to honor his life as an engineering student and worker.

Following these events, the Quilmes Atlético Club held a formal ceremony at the Quilmes Museum to honor Amigo, a supporter of the club. During this tribute, which was attended by club officials and writer Demián Konfino, a commemorative plaque was presented to his family to recognize his community work and commitment to social values.
