Commercial activity in Nagoya is expanding through new retail openings and large-scale urban development projects.

In the MEICHIKA underground shopping area at Nagoya Station, new establishments have launched, including a Maruya Honten eel restaurant and the Meitetsu Shouten gourmet gift shop. 

Broader development plans have also been announced for the Naka and Meieki districts. Mitsubishi Estate is constructing ‘Gate Front Hisaya Odori’, a 13-story mixed-use building near Hisaya Odori Park scheduled for completion in December 2026. Additionally, Tenpo Ryutsu Net Co., Ltd. plans to open ‘Meieki Derayokocho’ in October 2027, a three-story dining facility featuring approximately 17 restaurants designed to attract inbound tourists.
