In Guédiawaye, Senegal, a warehouse fire destroyed electronic and IT equipment, with losses estimated at over 300 million FCFA.

By late August, further fires occurred in Burundi and Burkina Faso. In Bujumbura, Burundi, a fire at the Kinindo market heavily damaged a mattress section. Burundi’s Minister of Finance, Alain Ndikumana, noted that investigations are underway, suggesting that recent fires in the area may have “non-accidental origins.” Meanwhile, in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, emergency teams contained a fire in a series of warehouses in the Sector 01 district.
