Community activities in Long Island transition from late September fundraisers and craft fairs to seasonal autumn and Halloween-themed festivals in October.

Initial events include a basket auction fundraiser hosted by the nonprofit Recipes 4 Learning in Lindenhurst, alongside various regional activities such as a craft fair in Holbrook, an antiques fair in Southold, and a fall festival at Heritage Farm and Garden in East Norwich.

As the season progresses, the focus shifts toward large-scale autumn celebrations. These include the 51st Annual Fall Festival at Hicks Nurseries and the 45th annual Hallockville Country Fair in Riverhead. Halloween-themed attractions also emerge, such as the Haunted House of Hamburgers in Farmingdale, Nightmare in Nassau in Hicksville, and seasonal programming at the Long Island Children’s Museum.
