Various community-led initiatives in Italy have utilized sports and local events to support social causes and heritage.

In Italy, the Etrusca Atletica sports club partnered with the Caritas of the Diocese of Porto-Santa Rufina for the “Tutti a Scuola” project, which provided school supplies to families facing economic difficulties. Additionally, a slingshot competition in Tolmezzo, Slovenia, raised proceeds for the Solidarmondo association to fund a school in Togo.

Other Italian initiatives include the Trullincorsa UNESCO Trail in Alberobello, an event marking the 30th anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage listing of the trulli to strengthen community identity. In Uta, a new five-a-side football pitch was inaugurated within a local prison through a collaboration involving Cagliari Calcio and several foundations, aiming to promote social interaction among inmates through sport.
