CONICET La Plata has engaged in both specialized ecological research and regional scientific outreach. 

Researchers from CONICET La Plata and the University of La Plata completed an extensive year-long monitoring project in the Río de la Plata. By sampling 17,952 specimens across 49 species, the study established a baseline for the river’s freshwater community. Lead investigator Tomás Maiztegui noted that this data will act as a “thermometer” for the ecosystem to help predict impacts from pollution, human activity, and climate change.

Additionally, the institution participated in the 23rd Regional Fair of Education, Arts, Science, and Technology in the Province of Buenos Aires. CONICET La Plata provided interactive activities for nearly 250 participating schools to promote scientific engagement and outreach within the student community.
