Controversy emerged on the reality show ‘A Fazenda 18’ when singer Adryana Ribeiro questioned the sexual orientation of participant Renê Thristan, suggesting his involvement with fellow contestant Ana Bruna was a strategic move. Thristan’s team issued a statement calling the remarks “discriminatory” and emphasizing the need to respect diversity.

On October 1, Ribeiro was eliminated from the competition after receiving 8.59% of the public vote, losing the second elimination round to Daniel Erthal and Maíra Charken. Following her exit, the production faced significant backlash for informing Ribeiro during the ‘Cabine de Descompressão’ segment that her friend, singer Rick Sollo, had died in a helicopter accident. The abrupt manner in which presenter Carol Lekker delivered the news sparked criticism on social media.

During her departure, Ribeiro granted immunity to Daniel Erthal and gave Maíra Charken the power to veto two participants from the next challenge. In the ‘Achômetro da Fazenda’ dynamic following her exit, Ribeiro expressed support for Daniel Erthal to become the next ‘Fazendeiro’ and praised Sérgio Hondjakoff as a highly capable competitor. However, she criticized Mayk for his emotional instability during tasks and noted that Lucas appeared “too comfortable” within the competition.

Other recent developments include Darlin Ferrattry briefly signaling an intention to quit by ringing the exit bell before deciding to stay, and Sérgio Hondjakoff winning the ‘Prova do Fazendeiro’ to secure immunity. The show has also seen a rise in viewership, reaching high audience shares in major Brazilian markets such as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
