Witnesses reported that Chapman, who reportedly suffered from severe mental illness, climbed into the habitat of an Amur tiger named Altai. South Yorkshire Police launched an investigation into the death, and the park confirmed the tiger would not be euthanized. Following the incident, Donald Trump faced significant criticism for posts made on his Truth Social platform. Trump shared footage of the fatal attack with the caption, ‘Don’t ever mess with nature!’ He also posted an AI-generated video depicting himself wrestling and embracing a tiger, set to music. South Yorkshire Mayor Oliver Coppard accused Trump of using artificial intelligence to mock the tragedy. The family of the deceased condemned the circulation of the footage, describing the content as ‘deeply offensive’ and stating it caused them ‘severe distress’ during a vulnerable time. Additional criticism has emerged following Trump’s sharing of a montage of various animal attacks, which fact-checkers identified as containing at least three AI-generated clips. British politicians, including Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg, have joined local officials in condemning the posts as ‘extremely distasteful’ and inappropriate, accusing the former president of leveraging the tragedy for social media engagement. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-15: Donald Trump faces backlash over tiger attack posts Donald Trump is facing backlash for sharing footage of a fatal tiger attack in the UK and subsequently posting AI-generated videos of himself wrestling a tiger, causing distress to the victim's family. 10 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/donald-trump-faces-criticism-over-ai-video-following-fatal-tiger-attack ### 2026-10-13: Donald Trump shares video of fatal tiger attack and AI parody Donald Trump has drawn criticism for sharing footage of a fatal tiger attack at a UK wildlife park and posting an AI-generated video of himself wrestling a tiger, causing distress to the victim's family. 43 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/donald-trump-shares-videos-of-fatal-tiger-attack-in-england --- Cite as: Controversy over Donald Trump posts regarding fatal tiger ma.
