Sources: 11. Developments: 2. Petar Bogojevski, leader of the Macedonian Concept political party, has faced widespread condemnation following comments regarding gender roles and domestic dynamics. During a television debate on TV Alfa, Bogojevski suggested that feminism has led women to reject “male supervision” and argued that husbands should provide such oversight. He also characterized a husband’s reaction to infidelity as a defense of his dignity rather than an act of violence. In subsequent communications, Bogojevski used comparisons to ethnic Albanian communities to criticize Macedonian men, claiming that certain cultural norms prevent women from “shaming themselves in cafes and the streets of Skopje.” He defended his positions as a defense of traditional family values and biblical teachings. The remarks triggered responses from multiple institutions. The Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services denounced the views for relativizing violence against women and children. The “General Mihailo Apostolski” Military Academy, where Bogojevski serves as a lecturer, announced a review to determine if professional and ethical obligations were breached. Additionally, the Network for Protection against Discrimination and government spokesperson Marija Miteva condemned the statements, with the former calling for a legal evaluation of whether the comments incite violence. ## Timeline ### 2026-11-04: Petar Bogojevski sparks controversy over comments on women's rights Macedonian Concept leader Petar Bogojevski faces backlash after suggesting women should be under male supervision and defending certain reactions to infidelity as dignity protection. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/petar-bogojevski-sparks-controversy-over-comments-on-womens-rights ### 2026-11-02: Petar Bogojeski faces backlash for controversial remarks on women Macedonian politician Petar Bogojeski is facing intense criticism from media regulators and activists after suggesting women need “male supervision” and relativizing domestic violence. 9 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/marija-miteva-condemns-petar-bogojeski-for-comments-on-women --- Cite as: Controversy over Petar Bogojevski remarks on women.
