Sources: 4. Developments: 2. Reverend Babs Miller, a minister at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Austin, has faced scrutiny following the release of undercover footage in which she expressed skepticism regarding central Christian doctrines. In the recordings, Miller questioned the historical existence of Jesus, comparing the uncertainty to debates surrounding the Buddha. She rejected the traditional belief in atonement, stating, ‘Jesus was political. Jesus was put on that cross not to save us, they killed him.’ Additionally, she dismissed the account of the Virgin Birth, suggesting it may have originated from pagan traditions. Miller described her theological approach as a 12-step program where individuals can ‘take what you want and leave the rest.’ The controversy involves the church attended by Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico. Miller has a long-standing relationship with Talarico, having served as a reference during his seminary application and being a known figure in his life since childhood. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-26: Texas Democratic candidate James Talarico's church chaplain questioned in video An undercover video shows Rev.
