A Copa del Rey preliminary round match between Atlético Unión Güímar and Sporting de Hortaleza was suspended following violent incidents at the Municipal de Tasagaya stadium in Tenerife. The visiting team from Madrid refused to play after their bus was reportedly attacked with stones and bottles by hooded individuals.

Sporting de Hortaleza cited safety concerns and alleged death threats as reasons for their refusal to compete, noting that a player was struck by a plastic bottle and a member of the coaching staff was allegedly assaulted. While the Guardia Civil provided security and officials maintained that safety was guaranteed, the visiting team stated they were not emotionally prepared to play.

Atlético Unión Güímar issued a statement condemning the violence and disputing specific claims regarding damage to the visitors’ bus. The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is reviewing the incident to decide the outcome of the tie, considering options such as a neutral venue, a closed-door match, or awarding the win to Sporting de Hortaleza.
