The 26th annual Cops for Kids charity bike ride has commenced in British Columbia. The event involves 15 current and retired Southeast officers cycling nearly 1,000 kilometres through the Okanagan and Kootenays over a 10-day period.

Presented by the Thomas Alan Budd Foundation, the initiative aims to raise funds for children and families facing medical, physical, or traumatic challenges. The cycling team is scheduled to pass through Castlegar following a journey from Grand Forks. 

Since its inception, the program has raised over $6.8 million. These funds have historically supported families through various means, including covering stays at the Ronald McDonald House in Vancouver, providing grocery and fuel gift cards, and supplying mobility equipment such as wheelchairs and scooters.
