In September 2026, developer Pugstorm and Fireshine Games announced ‘Riders of the Underground’, a major free content update for the sandbox survival game Core Keeper. The update was described as the first stage of a three-part initiative titled ‘Road to the Maw’. 

Planned features included new mountable animals via a ‘saddle’ item, a ‘Hookshot’ tool for traversing chasms, a new ‘Moss’ sub-biome within the Forgotten Ruins, and various new pets, weapons, and armor. 

Following the initial announcement, the update was officially released across PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. The release brought the promised rideable mounts, the Moss sub-biome, and the grappling hook tool to players, alongside additional quality-of-life improvements and new equipment.
