José Luis Bustamante, the former Secretary of Planning, Works, and Public Services for the municipality of Federal, underwent a legal process regarding the alleged misuse of public resources.

The trial focused on allegations that Bustamante authorized the use of municipal personnel, machinery, and materials to perform infrastructure work, such as sewage and pipe installation, on a private property belonging to a relative in the Las Flores neighborhood. 

Following the proceedings, the Court of Trials and Appeals of Concordia convicted Bustamante of embezzlement of goods and services. He was sentenced to two years of conditional imprisonment and received an absolute and perpetual disqualification from holding public office. The court also ordered him to repay the economic damages caused to the municipality.
