Authorities seized approximately 360,000 counterfeit 100,000 rupiah notes, valued at an estimated 36 billion rupiah. The notes were described as “grade A” quality, featuring security threads, holograms, and national symbols. The syndicate had been active since approximately March and intended to circulate the notes through private banks by mixing them with genuine currency at a 3-to-1 ratio. Four suspects were apprehended, including three production workers and an individual identified by the initials AB, who served as the financier and controller. Investigators noted that two of the suspects were recidivists involved in similar crimes in 2019 and 2022. Police also seized various production equipment, including offset machines, UV printers, and security threads.
