Peruvian authorities have conducted multiple operations across different regions to combat the sale of counterfeit, unregulated, and expired products.

In late August, inspections in Ica and Lima targeted pharmacies and distribution points. In Ica, officials discovered controlled substances of unknown origin and closed a pharmacy due to missing medical records and improper temperature logs. In Lima, authorities seized over five tons of allegedly counterfeit baby detergents, alongside various hygiene products such as soaps and cosmetics. Two individuals were detained for crimes against public health.

By early September, operations expanded to Juliaca, where a joint task force involving the National Police and the Regional Directorate of Medicines, Supplies, and Drugs (DIREMID) targeted establishments lacking sanitary authorization. Inspectors found medicines that were allegedly counterfeit, expired, or of unknown origin, often stored under inadequate conditions. Authorities have advised the public to only use formal pharmacies to avoid health risks.
