Sources: 4. Developments: 2. On October 9, Coupang, Coupang Eats, and Coupang Play experienced a widespread service outage lasting approximately two and a half hours. The disruption, which began around midnight, was attributed by the company to a “temporary error that occurred during the service upgrade process.” The outage affected mobile applications, websites, and logistics systems, preventing users from logging in and hindering delivery drivers from verifying completed orders. Following the restoration of services, small business organizations, including the Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise and the Korea Foodservice Industry Association, issued a joint statement demanding compensation. These groups reported that the outage caused operational chaos, impacting late-night sales and delivery accuracy. While Coupang Eats pledged to settle orders canceled due to the error and waive advertising fees for the affected period, business associations are calling for more transparent loss calculations and comprehensive compensation plans. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-11: Coupang Eats faces compensation demands after system outage Small business groups are demanding comprehensive compensation from Coupang Eats following a two-hour system outage that disrupted delivery orders and threatened the livelihoods of local merchants. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/coupang-eats-faces-compensation-demands-after-system-outage ### 2026-10-08: Coupang services experience two-hour outage due to upgrade error Coupang, Coupang Eats, and Coupang Play experienced a two-hour service outage on the night of the 9th due to a service upgrade error, affecting millions of users and logistics operations. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/coupang-services-experience-two-hour-outage-due-to-upgrade-error --- Cite as: Coupang service outage and compensation dispute.
