In late October, military police arrested two suspects following the kidnapping of a man and his girlfriend. The victims were reportedly approached at a bar by four individuals, including one armed person, who forced them into a vehicle for a “tribunal do crime” (crime tribunal). The man escaped by jumping from the moving car during a struggle, while his girlfriend remained in the vehicle. Police apprehended two suspects at a residence, though the weapon and two other accomplices remain at large. In a separate investigation, civil police arrested a 36-year-old former manager for allegedly embezzling approximately R$ 681,000. The suspect is accused of two schemes: diverting R$ 370,000 from a motorcycle dealership by instructing customers to pay into his personal accounts, and causing R$ 311,000 in losses at a contractor for the Companhia Paranaense de Energia (Copel) by falsifying utility bill payments for associates. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-29: Toledo police arrest former manager for R$ 681,000 fraud A 36-year-old man was arrested in Toledo, Brazil, suspected of defrauding a motorcycle dealership and a Copel contractor of R$ 681,000. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/toledo-police-arrest-former-manager-for-r-681000-fraud ### 2026-10-23: Toledo police arrest two suspects after couple's kidnapping Two people were arrested in Toledo, Brazil, after a man escaped a moving vehicle during a kidnapping attempt intended for a 'crime tribunal.' 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/toledo-police-arrest-two-suspects-after-couples-kidnapping --- Cite as: Crime and fraud incidents in Toledo, Brazil.
