Law enforcement activities in Paraguay have focused on both local crime and large-scale narcotics trafficking. In early October, authorities dismantled a marijuana laboratory in Villa Ygatymi, seizing over 220 kilograms of chopped marijuana along with extraction equipment. This occurred alongside reports of an attempted kidnapping involving a teenager in San José Obrero.

By mid-October, the focus shifted to an international smuggling investigation. Paraguayan authorities charged four airport employees—including an air traffic controller and a former security manager—for allegedly facilitating the smuggling of 261 kilograms of high-potency cannabis. The drugs were transported via a US-registered business jet from Miami through Panama. The investigation, involving the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (SENAD) and the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), aims to identify the financiers behind the operation.
