In early September, police in Bottrop reported an assault at Berliner Platz where two 17-year-old suspects allegedly attempted to steal mobile phones from two men using physical violence and a hockey stick.

By late September, authorities increased enforcement of area entry bans at the Bottrop central bus station. This included fining a 17-year-old resident for violating a ban related to an early September robbery, as well as penalizing a 51-year-old man previously restricted due to multiple incidents involving an elderly victim. Police and municipal services have indicated that patrols will continue around the bus station and Berliner Platz.
