Devon and Cornwall Police have launched investigations into various criminal activities in the Cornwall region.

Initial reports focused on a spike in burglaries occurring since September 19, targeting homes in Callington and the St Ann’s Chapel area. Stolen items included cash, jewellery, and war medals, with some incidents involving ‘significant damage’ to properties.

Subsequent reports indicate a pattern of vandalism and theft targeting Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras in North Cornwall, specifically in rural areas between St Merryn and Trekenning. Chief Inspector Simon Jenkinson noted that these cameras were installed to prevent rural crime, and their repeated destruction results in ‘considerable replacement costs for taxpayers’.
