Criminal activity in Cancún has involved both vehicle-related theft attempts and armed robberies of local businesses.

In mid-September, an attempted robbery of a mototaxi driver in Supermanzana 221 led to a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended when suspects crashed into a parked truck; one suspect was subsequently apprehended by municipal police after barricading himself inside a primary school.

By late September, authorities began investigating an armed robbery at a tortilla shop and grocery store in Supermanzana 102. Two individuals on a motorcycle were captured on surveillance footage, with one suspect using a firearm to steal cash. Investigators are examining whether this incident is connected to a similar robbery at a tortilla shop in Supermanzana 76 due to similarities in the methods used.
