Authorities in Thailand and Malaysia have reported significant criminal activities involving Chinese nationals. In Pattaya, Thailand, police arrested Xin Zhang for an alleged cryptocurrency heist totaling over 162 million baht. The operation reportedly used advanced AI face-swapping technology to deceive mobile operators into issuing replacement SIM cards, allowing the group to intercept one-time passwords and access exchange accounts.

In Malaysia, a violent robbery occurred at a luxury condominium in Kuala Lumpur on September 7. Masked, armed men entered a residence belonging to a 28-year-old Chinese national, tying up the victim's family and staff before stealing cash, jewelry, and luxury watches. While initial reports estimated the loss at approximately 3.18 million ringgit, police later specified the loss at roughly RM2.91 million.

As of September 14, Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus stated that investigations suggest potential ‘insider’ involvement related to the victim. While suspects have been identified, no arrests have been made, and police are coordinating with the Chinese Embassy regarding a stolen passport.
