In the first half of 2026, police in Brașov conducted nearly 100 operations targeting the illegal possession of weapons, explosives, and dangerous substances. In late August, police in Bistrița conducted seizures of illegal weapons and ammunition, and a 50-year-old man was detained following house searches.

Safety concerns escalated in August 2026 due to a major fire in Stâlpu, Buzău, involving a storage hall for industrial batteries and oil. Other recent fire incidents include the destruction of farm buildings in Budureasa and a short circuit in Giurgiu. Law enforcement has also investigated medical fraud in Iași, illegal timber transport in Botoșani, and illegal waste dumping in Caransebeș.

Recent criminal activity includes several thefts and robberies. In Pitești, four individuals, including two minors, were detained for thefts including a robbery at a car wash. Additionally, police in Târgoviște arrested two youths for robbery involving threats, and two suspects were detained in Huedin for robbery, one of whom attempted to escape a police station by jumping from a window.
