The scheme reportedly defrauded over 700 people of approximately INR 1.5 crore. Verma and his father, the proprietor of M/s Baba Shyam Giri Jewellers, allegedly promised jewelry in exchange for monthly installments. Verma was detained at Surat Airport following the issuance of Look Out Circulars.
