Authorities in Vinh Long have addressed separate criminal incidents involving assault and theft. 

In one case, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan was detained for three months following an August 17 assault on a stranger. Thuan reportedly approached the victim from behind on a motorcycle, knocked him off his vehicle, and attacked him with a weapon while intoxicated. Thuan claimed he mistakenly believed the victim was following him. The victim sustained a 15% injury rate, and Thuan is being investigated for “intentional injury.”

In a separate investigation, police issued a detention warrant for Le Quoc Viet regarding the theft of a motorcycle reported on September 25. Viet reportedly admitted to stealing the vehicle, valued at 6 million VND, and pawning it for 2 million VND. Authorities noted that Viet has a prior five year prison sentence for theft and is a known illegal drug user.
