Sources: 4. Developments: 2. Guyana authorities have been investigating various criminal activities and missing persons reports across several regions. Initial reports focused on multiple armed robberies in Georgetown and the Demerara regions, alongside searches for three individuals reported missing from West Bank Demerara. Investigations later expanded to include the disappearance of two Surinamese men, Siegiëllo Lorenzo van Dalen and Derryl Danillo Bont, who have been missing since late August. Efforts to execute a search warrant related to this case in the Buxton area resulted in violent resistance from residents, who reportedly used burning barricades and set a construction truck on fire to obstruct police. The search is linked to Mark ‘Demon’ Cromwell, a former police officer sanctioned by the United States for alleged involvement in international cocaine trafficking. Investigators are examining a vehicle associated with a relative of Cromwell, as the missing men were reportedly last seen entering that vehicle. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-29: Guyana police face unrest during search linked to missing Surinamese men Police in Guyana encountered burning barricades and a torched truck while attempting to search a home linked to US-sanctioned Mark Cromwell during an investigation into two missing Surinamese men. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/guyana-police-face-unrest-during-search-linked-to-missing-surinamese-men ### 2026-09-27: Guyana police investigate robberies and missing persons Guyana authorities are investigating several armed robberies in Georgetown and Demerara, while searching for three missing persons reported from the West Bank Demerara region. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/guyana-police-investigate-robberies-and-missing-persons --- Cite as: Criminal investigations and missing persons in Guyana.
