Police operations in Catania have targeted various criminal activities involving illegal equipment and tools used to facilitate crime.

In the Librino district, authorities dismantled an illegal weapons modification laboratory operating out of a garage. During the raid, officers seized two pistols being modified, a bulletproof vest, and various metalworking tools, including a lathe and a makeshift testing bench.

Following this, a raid in the San Cristoforo district uncovered a criminal operation involving counterfeit license plates. Investigators seized 78 plates intended to make stolen vehicles ‘invisible’ to law enforcement. The seizure also included a 16-antenna jammer designed to disable GPS and vehicle alarms. These findings have led to money laundering charges as police investigate how these tools are utilized to facilitate robberies and property crimes.
