Developments: 2. Authorities in Austria have conducted separate investigations into organized crime activities in the Linz and St. Pölten regions. In St. Pölten, a 30-year-old Hungarian man was arrested on suspicion of pimping and human trafficking. Investigators allege the suspect exploited the financial difficulties of two women in Hungary to recruit them for prostitution in Linz. While the suspect denied pimping charges, he partially admitted to “cross-border prostitution trafficking” after being apprehended at an illegally operated brothel. In a separate case in Linz, police arrested a 37-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman for suspected large-scale drug trafficking. The investigation suggests the man operated a narcotics trade from 2020 to 2026, utilizing the darknet to order shipments of amphetamine, methamphetamine, and ketamine. The woman is suspected of handling significant quantities of these substances, which were allegedly marketed via social media. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-26: Linz police arrest couple for suspected large-scale drug trafficking A 37-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman have been arrested in Linz, Austria, on suspicion of large-scale drug trafficking involving methamphetamine, amphetamines, and darknet transactions. 7 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/linz-police-arrest-couple-for-suspected-large-scale-drug-trafficking ### 2026-10-07: Man arrested in St. Pölten for suspected pimping and human trafficking A 30-year-old man was arrested in St. Pölten for allegedly exploiting two women through human trafficking and pimping in Linz, resulting in high five-figure profits. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/man-arrested-in-st-plten-for-suspected-pimping-and-human-trafficking --- Cite as: Criminal investigations in Austria.
