A conflict has emerged between Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) following Ronaldo’s departure from the national team’s training camp in Denmark. The incident resulted in Ronaldo receiving a 30-day suspension and a 255-euro fine. Reports indicate the friction involved Ronaldo requesting transport to an airport capable of accommodating his private jet after refusing certain accommodations. Former Portuguese international and FPF vice-president Humberto Coelho described the situation as a “very complicated and dark period” for both the player and the federation, noting that the breakdown in management resulted in “no winners.” Coelho suggested that any future return of Ronaldo to the national squad would require better protocols and mutual responsibility between the player, the coach, and the federation, as well as the willingness of his teammates to receive him. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-23: Humberto Coelho criticizes Cristiano Ronaldo and Portuguese Football Federation Former player Humberto Coelho describes the recent conflict between Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese Football Federation as a dark period for both parties. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/humberto-coelho-criticizes-cristiano-ronaldo-and-portuguese-football-federation-1 ### 2026-10-21: Humberto Coelho criticizes Cristiano Ronaldo and Portuguese Football Federation Former Portuguese football official Humberto Coelho labels the Cristiano Ronaldo suspension controversy a “dark period” for the player and the FPF, calling for better management of his potential return. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/humberto-coelho-criticizes-cristiano-ronaldo-and-portuguese-football-federation --- Cite as: Cristiano Ronaldo and Portuguese Football Federation dispute.
