Sources: 18. Developments: 2. Indian cricket management and selectors have faced mounting criticism from coaches and former players regarding their handling of talent and squad selection. Initially, Manish Ojha, the childhood coach of 15-year-old batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi, accused head coach Gautam Gambhir and the management of practicing a “dictatorship.” Ojha expressed frustration that Suryavanshi has been relegated to the bench during the T20I series against the West Indies, arguing that such treatment fails to develop the player and could undermine his confidence. This scrutiny expanded as former cricketers Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammad Kaif also voiced concerns. Ashwin criticized the omission of Yashasvi Jaiswal from the ODI squad for the New Zealand series, warning that denying the run-scorer game time could “ruin his confidence” before the 2027 ODI World Cup. Ashwin also questioned the decision to omit spinner Kuldeep Yadav from the fourth T20I against the West Indies. Furthermore, Kaif highlighted an overdependence on Jasprit Bumrah and criticized the management for dropping rookie bowlers too quickly instead of providing consistent support. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-15: Indian cricket management faces criticism over player selection Former cricketers Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammad Kaif criticize Indian team management for selection decisions, specifically regarding Yashasvi Jaiswal's ODI snub and the handling of bowlers. 13 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ravichandran-ashwin-criticizes-omission-of-kuldeep-yadav ### 2026-10-12: Coach criticizes Indian cricket management over Vaibhav Suryavanshi's selection Coach Manish Ojha has criticized India's cricket management, calling their handling of teenage prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi a “dictatorship” as the player remains on the bench during the West Indies T20I series. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/coach-criticizes-indian-cricket-management-over-vaibhav-suryavanshis-selection --- Cite as: Criticism of Indian cricket team management.
