Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez has presided over several ceremonies to award state decorations for international solidarity and domestic service. In early September, the Cuban government awarded the Medalla de la Amistad (Medal of Friendship) to Nivia Regina Da Silva and Marcelo Durao Fernández, members of Brazil’s Landless Workers' Movement (MST). The honors recognized their efforts in supporting Cuba through campaigns against economic blockades and the donation of agricultural supplies and medicines. Later in the month, President Díaz-Canel led ceremonies for domestic and internationalist service.
