The festival features over 230 free attractions, including musical performances by artists such as Seu Jorge, Murilo Huff, Zeca Baleiro, and Sandra Sá. Central festivities are concentrated on Avenida Goiás and the Estação Ferroviária, featuring themed stages for samba, forró, MPB, gospel, and rock tributes. The celebration also incorporates street races, cycling tours, boxing, capoeira, circus arts, and urban culture activities like rap battles and skate workshops. In addition to the cultural program, the city is hosting the 6th edition of the IberLeague Goiás from October 9 to 12. This sporting event at the Atlanta SAF training center is expected to host over 1,500 youth athletes from 110 teams as part of the international Iber Global Group circuit. Economically, Goiânia remains the largest capital in the state of Goiás, with a reported GDP of R$75.8 billion in 2023, accounting for 22.5% of the state's total wealth. The capital is also evolving into a recognized regional fashion center. To support long-term growth, Governor Daniel Vilela has highlighted R$3.8 billion in state investments intended to modernize the capital, specifically targeting public transport, public safety, and healthcare infrastructure—including the new Oncology Reference Complex (Cora)—in preparation for the city's centenary in 2033. Demographic data shows the city has reached a population of approximately 1.4 to 1.5 million residents. While the urban area is recognized for its Art Déco architecture and extensive greenery, researchers continue to monitor challenges regarding spatial segregation and urban inequality. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-23: Goiânia celebrates 93rd anniversary with cultural festivals and infrastructure investments Goiânia celebrates 93 years with free cultural festivals, a robust R$75.8 billion economy, and R$3.8 billion in planned state investments for infrastructure and healthcare. 14 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ubatuba-hosts-38th-nations-fair-to-support-local-charities ### 2026-10-20: Goiânia celebrates 93 years with population growth and urban expansion Goiânia marks its 93rd anniversary with a population exceeding 1.5 million, significant urban expansion, and a growing demographic of elderly residents. 8 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/goinia-celebrates-93rd-anniversary-with-festivals-and-transit-changes ### 2026-10-18: Goiânia celebrates 93rd anniversary with Viva Goiânia Festival Goiânia celebrates its 93rd anniversary with the free Viva Goiânia Festival, featuring major musical acts, sports, and health services along Avenida Goiás. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/goinia-celebrates-93-years-of-urban-evolution-and-culture ### 2026-10-12: Goiânia hosts cultural festivals celebrating city anniversary and cinema Goiânia hosts the Festival Viva Goiânia to celebrate the city's 93rd anniversary, while the 24th Goiânia Mostra Curtas concludes its celebration of Brazilian cinema and diverse narratives. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/goinia-launches-cultural-festival-to-celebrate-city-anniversary ### 2026-10-09: Goiânia celebrates 93rd anniversary with park reopening and festivals Goiânia celebrates its 93rd anniversary with the reopening of Parque Mutirama, the launch of the Viva Goiânia Festival, extensive urban landscaping, and new traffic infrastructure projects. 11 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/mutirama-park-reopens-in-goinia-with-22-rides ### 2026-10-05: Brazil hosts various cultural, culinary, and sporting events Brazil hosts diverse cultural and sporting events, including the IberLeague youth football tournament in Goiânia, free cinema festivals in Rio and Goiás, and regional culinary showcases. 18 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/goinia-hosts-film-festival-and-anniversary-celebrations ### 2026-09-25: Goiânia to host Festival Viva Goiânia for 93rd anniversary Goiânia will celebrate its 93rd anniversary in October with the Festival Viva Goiânia, offering 229 free cultural, sporting, and musical attractions across 11 regions of the city. 8 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/goinia-launches-viva-goinia-festival-for-citys-93rd-anniversary ### 2026-09-11: Goiânia hosts Pé de Cerrado anniversary tour and Gusttavo Lima performance Goiânia hosts the conclusion of Pé de Cerrado’s 25th-anniversary tour and the return of singer Gusttavo Lima for his “Buteco” event. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/goinia-hosts-p-de-cerrado-anniversary-tour-and-gusttavo-lima-performance --- Cite as: Cultural and anniversary celebrations in Goiânia.
