In October 2026, Burkina Faso hosted significant cultural events. The 14th edition of the Récréâtrales theatre biennial was scheduled for late October in Ouagadougou under the theme ‘Obliger à beauté’. The festival aimed to use art as a tool for connection and resistance during regional security crises.

Concurrently, the 9th edition of the Rencontres Musicales Africaines (REMA) opened at the Centre Culturel du Faso on October 21. This event focused on the theme “Followers: from passive to active,” with the goal of transforming the African musical ecosystem by turning digital audiences into economic drivers for professional development and youth opportunities.
