Cultural programming in Spain and Cuba has transitioned from community-focused festivals to specialized performing arts productions.

In September, local initiatives included the evaluation of summer programming in Jovellanos, Cuba, and the announcement of JOAFEST in Denia, Spain, a youth-led leisure festival featuring various recreational activities.

By October, the focus shifted toward professional performing arts. In Gijón, Spain, the companies Proyecto Alicia and Meraki Cía. prepared to premiere ‘El lugar de lo inservible’ at the Teatro Jovellanos, a production blending theatre and dance to address environmental themes. Concurrently, in Havana, Cuba, the Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba company scheduled a gala at the Teatro Martí to celebrate the Spanish National Day, an event supported by the Spanish Embassy and AECID to highlight cultural intersections between the two nations.
