The municipality of Alcázar de San Juan has introduced several cultural and social initiatives for the latter half of 2026.

In late August, the city unveiled the program for the 2026 Feria y Fiestas, noting that the edition commemorates the 800th anniversary of the Santa María la Mayor parish and the 50th anniversary of the fair’s current location. Mayor Rosa Melchor also noted municipal improvements, including renovations to the Teatro Cine Crisfel and the Municipal Museum.

By late September, the city expanded its programming with the launch of the ‘Week of the Elderly 2026’, a series of cultural and social activities running through October 1st. This initiative is part of a broader trend among various Spanish municipalities organizing activities for older adults to mark the International Day of Older Persons, with a focus on health, cultural engagement, and intergenerational social connection.

On September 23, the ‘Semana de los Mayores’ commenced with a film screening attended by approximately 200 people, an event focused on intergenerational leisure. Additionally, the Municipal Culture Board introduced ‘enCUENTrOS’, an oral storytelling cycle scheduled to take place between September and November.
