In early October, the Música ONCE Festival in Salamanca, Spain, featured over 40 artists with blindness or severe visual impairment, showcasing genres ranging from jazz to traditional Galician music. Simultaneously, in Mexico City, the Sala Nezahualcóyotl hosted ‘Informe sobre ciegos’, a production combining a monologue by John Malkovich with a performance by the Orquesta Filarmónica de la UNAM. The event used darkness to simulate the sensation of blindness during Alfred Schnittke’s Piano Concerto. By mid-October, theatrical productions shifted toward themes of memory. In Mexico, the Espejo de Hueso theater company performed ‘Mi Perro Cono’ in Durango, exploring childhood and family through nostalgia. In Madrid, the play ‘Los huesos’, directed by Manuela Infante, utilized music to address the historical memory of forced disappearances and the data found in human remains. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-14: Cultural performances highlight memory and family in Mexico and Spain Theater productions in Mexico and Spain explore diverse themes, from childhood memories in Durango to the musical interpretation of forensic data regarding forced disappearances in Madrid. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/cultural-performances-highlight-memory-and-family-in-mexico-and-spain ### 2026-10-04: Cultural festivals highlight musical talent and sensory experiences Cultural festivals in Spain and Mexico have featured musical performances by blind artists and sensory-driven spectacles involving John Malkovich and OFUNAM. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/cultural-festivals-highlight-musical-talent-and-sensory-experiences --- Cite as: Cultural and theatrical performances in Spain and Mexico.
