The Parramatta region is undergoing significant cultural and tourism development. The $915 million Powerhouse Parramatta museum, designed by Moreau Kusunoki in collaboration with Genton, is scheduled to open on November 7, 2026. This booth is intended to serve as a ‘front door’ to the city, assisting tourists as major infrastructure projects like the Parramatta Light Rail, Metro West, and Western Sydney International Airport approach completion. Potential sites under consideration include PHIVE and Parramatta Square, with a report expected by March 2027.

Additionally, the Parramatta Lanes arts festival is expanding its program for an upcoming event from October 21 to 24. The free festival expects to attract 400,000 visitors and will feature over 500 artists and 70 vendors across 21 sites. The program includes large-scale installations, such as Snuff Puppets’ ‘Human Body Organs’ and illuminated inflatable works, designed to encourage the exploration of contemporary art throughout the city after dark.
