Alcalá de Henares is hosting significant cultural events, including the Semana Cervantina, which is recognized as a festival of international tourist interest. This festival features the Cervantine Market, described as one of the largest period markets in Europe, involving approximately 400 stalls, 300 reenactors, and various musical and theatrical performances.

Additionally, the city serves as the national capital for the IV National Congress of Holy Week and World Heritage Cities from October 23 to 25. This congress intends to establish a permanent working network among Spain’s fifteen UNESCO World Heritage cities to manage tourism, preserve sculptural and textile heritage, and ensure the generational transmission of popular traditions.

The congress, which includes representatives from 15 Spanish cities, focuses on the intersection of devotion, art, and collective memory. Key events include an institutional opening at the Teatro Salón Cervantes and a religious gathering at the Plaza de San Diego, where the images of Nuestra Señora de la Soledad Coronada and the Cristo Universitario de los Doctrinos met, accompanied by a saeta performed by singer Lela Soto. The proceedings conclude with an Eucharist at the Cathedral of the Holy Children.
