Cultural events are scheduled to take place in Kyoto, focusing on traditional rituals and historical commemorations.

In mid-September, the Hirano Shrine will host its annual Gochinza Kinen-sai and Hoto-sai festivals. These events include morning rituals, folk music, dance, and gagaku, while the evening Hoto-sai features approximately 600 lanterns and performing arts such as Noh and poetry recitation.

Additionally, the Kyoto Cultural Museum will host a special exhibition from September 19 to November 15 to mark the 400th anniversary of the Kan'ei Gyoko. The exhibition, titled ‘Kan'ei: Beauty Nurtured by Peace’, will display Edo-period art, including masterworks by Hon'ami Koetsu and Tawaraya Sotatsu, as well as significant swords. A separate reenactment of Heian-period Tanabata festivities is also planned at the Kyu-Ueda Family Residence in Muko City.
