In mid-August, Chandigarh Police arrested Raj Kumar Shaw in West Bengal for his alleged role in a scam totaling Rs 9.51 lakh. The victim had reportedly transferred the funds after being falsely accused of human trafficking and money laundering.

Shortly after, Patna police arrested Aryan Kumar in connection with a significantly larger fraud involving 1.43 crore rupees. Investigators identified a joint bank account used to receive 1.05 crore rupees of the stolen funds, of which 27 lakh rupees has been frozen. Police seized various electronic devices and SIM cards to investigate the broader criminal network.
